Abstract

This article examines the institutional foundations of social
adaptation of children with intellectual and mental disabilities in Uzbekistan. The
causes and factors influencing the increase in the number of children with
intellectual and mental disabilities around the world have been studied, and the
structure of diseases leading to disability of children in Uzbekistan has been
analyzed. Also, by conducting a survey among parents of children with intellectual
and mental disabilities studying in specialized schools and boarding schools in
Andijan, Bukhara, Kashkadarya, Namangan, Samarkand, Tashkent, and Ferghana
regions and the city of Tashkent, a social portrait of a family raising a child with
intellectual and mental disabilities in Uzbekistan was created.
