EXTENSIVE READING AS A MEANS OF IMPROVING ENGLISH LANGUAGE PROFICIENCY

Abstract

In the contemporary educational landscape, developing students’ English language proficiency remains one of the primary objectives of foreign language instruction. Among various teaching approaches, extensive reading has gained considerable attention due to its positive impact on language acquisition. This paper discusses the role of extensive reading in improving learners’ language proficiency, with particular emphasis on vocabulary development, reading fluency, grammatical competence, and communicative skills. The study highlights the significance of integrating extensive reading into English language teaching as an effective strategy for fostering independent learning and enhancing overall language performance
