Abstract

Mathematics underpins the theory, design, and evaluation of artificial
intelligence (AI) systems and drives innovation in emerging technologies. This paper
surveys the mutual reinforcement between mathematical foundations — including
statistics, linear algebra, optimization, information theory, and probability — and
contemporary AI methods such as machine learning, deep learning, and probabilistic
modelling.
