PREVENTION OF COMPLICATIONS ARISING AFTER DIFFICULT TOOTH EXTRACTION
##plugins.themes.academic_pro.article.main##
Abstract
Difficult tooth extractions carry a heightened risk of post-operative
complications, including pain, swelling, infection, alveolar osteitis (dry socket), and
nerve damage. This review explores strategies to minimize these complications.
Techniques include meticulous surgical planning and execution, atraumatic extraction
methods, appropriate wound management, prophylactic antibiotics, and postoperative
instructions. Careful attention to detail during surgery, coupled with
effective patient education and management, is crucial for promoting optimal healing
and minimizing morbidity following difficult tooth extractions. This guide aims to
provide dental practitioners with evidence-based strategies to reduce the incidence
and severity of post-extraction complications, enhancing patient outcomes and
satisfaction.
