##plugins.themes.academic_pro.article.main##
Abstract
Polycystic ovary syndrome (PCOS) is a common endocrine disorder affecting
women of reproductive age. It is characterized by irregular menstrual cycles, excess
androgen production, and polycystic ovaries visible on ultrasound. PCOS can lead to
various complications, including infertility, metabolic issues, and an increased risk of
developing type 2 diabetes and cardiovascular diseases. Early diagnosis and effective
management are critical for improving the quality of life of affected women. This
article aims to provide an overview of PCOS, discussing its pathophysiology,
diagnostic criteria, treatment methods, and management strategies. Key diagnostic
tools, such as ultrasound, hormonal profiling, and clinical assessment, are explored.
Treatment options, including lifestyle modifications, pharmacological therapies, and
surgical interventions, are also reviewed.
