Abstract
Chronic rhinosinusitis (CRS) is a prevalent inflammatory condition of the nasal
and paranasal sinuses, significantly impacting patients' quality of life. This study
aimed to investigate and evaluate the effectiveness of various treatment strategies for
CRS, focusing on optimizing patient outcomes and reducing the burden of this
chronic disease. A comprehensive review of current medical and surgical treatment
approaches for CRS was conducted, and a systematic literature review of relevant
randomized controlled trials, meta-analyses and guideline documents was performed.
Data was also analysed from a prospective cohort of patients who were treated using
a range of available treatment options. The results of these various investigations were
used to identify areas of improvement in the management of chronic rhinosinusitis.
The study emphasized the importance of personalized treatment plans, and
highlighted the benefits of combining various medical and surgical interventions. The
study concludes that the best outcomes are achieved by an interdisciplinary approach
to management, with a careful consideration of disease phenotype and patient-specific
factors. The study proposes a framework for optimizing treatment strategies that will
help improve outcomes for the millions of individuals that suffer from chronic
rhinosinusitis.
