THE ROLE OF TEMPOROMANDIBULAR JOINT BIOMECHANICS IN THE MANAGEMENT OF PARTIAL ADENTIA
##plugins.themes.academic_pro.article.main##
Abstract
Partial adentia, or the loss of some but not all teeth, significantly impacts the
biomechanics of the temporomandibular joint (TMJ), leading to altered masticatory
function and the potential development of temporomandibular disorders (TMD). This
review examines the complex relationship between partial tooth loss and the TMJ,
emphasizing the biomechanical changes that occur due to altered occlusal forces,
muscle activity, and condylar movements.
