Abstract

This study investigates the orthodontic implications of adenoidectomy in
children. Adenoidectomy, a common surgical procedure, can influence orofacial
development, potentially leading to malocclusion and other orthodontic issues. This
study aims to assess the prevalence of specific orthodontic changes in children who
have undergone adenoidectomy compared to a control group. A comprehensive
orthodontic evaluation, including cephalometric analysis, dental cast analysis, and
clinical examination, was performed on a group of children with and without a history
of adenoidectomy. The findings indicate that children who have undergone
adenoidectomy are more prone to develop specific malocclusions, particularly those
related to altered nasal breathing and tongue posture. The study highlights the
importance of early orthodontic screening and intervention in children with a history
of adenoidectomy to prevent long-term dental and skeletal complications. Early
intervention can significantly improve the long-term health of the developing
orofacial structure.
