Abstract

This is a rare, progressive, degenerative disease of the nervous system caused
by a persistent measles infection. It is characterized by a gradual decline in
intelligence, impaired motor activity, seizures, myoclonus, ataxia, and usually
develops in children aged 5-15 years. It typically leads to death within 1-3 years of
the onset of the disease
