MAKEUP IN THEATRE AND FILM
##plugins.themes.academic_pro.article.main##
Abstract
The art of film makeup inherited many traditions and principles of
theatrical makeup. Many makeup artists who work in film today began their
creative careers in the theatre and brought the experience of theatrical makeup
artists to cinema. However, cinema presented the makeup artist with many new,
more complex demands and prompted them to improve their art, to seek new
expressive means, new materials, and techniques. For example, plastic makeup,
invented by R. Raugul (Leningrad), was first widely used in cinema. The recipe
for preparing paints has changed significantly.
